A country, reeling from a war that hadn't gone well and in the midst of an economic downturn, was distraught. Lacking seriously, the country as a whole, but especially the youth, began searching for a messiah. They found one in the form of a man whose mark on the world wasn't made through politics. His young life was spent as a community organizer, and the book he wrote about his experience mobilizing the youth and others propelled him to stardom. He was a smooth talker, spoke of a great future for his country and for the world at large, and loved slogans and catchphrases. Sensing that this man was their ticket to hope and change, the citizens brought him into power.
The man's name?
Adolf Hitler.

Woah! Very powerful post, Young American. This is evidence that it is vitally important that people know history. We must be able to see the relationships of the present to the past and recognize the signs. Then, we can be equiped to avoid repeating the horrors in history.
Hope and Change....sounds familiar...doesn't it?
